October 2012 – Baycliffe trained Aaim To Prosper made history this month becoming the first horse to win the Cesarewitch, first run in 1839, at Newmarket TWICE!

The Brian Meehan-trained eight-year-old had not won a single race until this sensational result. At top weight and 66-1 the horse wasn't exactly fancied, unlike the hot favourite Countrywide Flame.

Aaim To Prosper broke quickly from stall one and charged along the far rail before settling in behind the front-runners. He was in the perfect position to make his move as the pace-setters dropped away. In the final stages it looked like Countrywide Flame would catch him, but neither the plucky horse nor his jockey, Keiren Fallon, were prepared to settle for second place. Aaim To Prosper held on heroically to win by half a length.

Delighted with the result, Fallon commented, "He was off the bridle all the way. He's tough as nails and he really wanted it. I thought we were playing for second but when he picked up, he found a new lease of life."

Brian Meehan said: "Kieren has everyone's respect. He's a wonderful rider and rode him here a couple of weeks ago - he knew what he was getting on and what the horse needed. I'm thrilled with the horse and he's made a bit of history."

Commenting on the race the CGA Chairman, William Harrison-Allan, added, "When we launched the CGA Racing Partnerships little did we know we would be making history. It's a fantastic result and I, along with the other members of the partnership, cheered him on every inch of the way. Sadly, I didn't even put a penny on him! My wife had more confidence and has been richly rewarded!"
